The jiu jitsu kimono ( Jiu Jitsu Gi)   The original bjj Kimono is based on the styling of the judo Kimono, when Brazilian jiu jitsu was introduced to Brazil, all would practice bjj ( Brazilian Jiu Jitsu )wearing the judo kimono.

The Brazilian fighters found that the trousers and sleeves were very loose, this gave your opponent way too much to hold on too, allowing him to be over controlled thus slowing down the flow of the fight, this lead to some adjustment to the Jiu Jitsu kimono to allow a more mobile fight.

The name Jiu Jitsu Gi is really quite modern and was really concieved of America.
